Calm is
within reach.
Depression, anxiety, and panic attacks can strip away your sense of agency. I work with CBT — the approach with the strongest evidence base — to help you regain control over your own life.
Conditions I work with
Depression does not always mean sadness. It often shows up as chronic fatigue, loss of motivation, emotional numbness, or insomnia. Anxiety can paralyse daily functioning even when everything looks normal on the surface. As a CBT psychotherapist I work with a broad range of mood and anxiety disorders.
How CBT treats depression and anxiety
CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. In depression we work on automatic negative thoughts and the cognitive schemas that maintain low mood. In anxiety disorders we focus on learning to recognise and modify avoidance patterns and the anxiety spiral.
CBT is a goal-oriented therapy. You will receive practical tools — breathing techniques, thought journals, exposure exercises — that you can use independently between sessions. This is why the effects of therapy last long after it ends.
FAQ
Your questions answered
- How long does CBT treatment for depression take?
- Research shows CBT for depression typically takes 12–20 sessions. For milder episodes results are often visible after 8–10 sessions. Duration depends on severity and individual pace.
- Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
- No referral is needed to see a private psychologist or psychotherapist. Simply book directly via the calendar on this website.
- Does CBT help with panic attacks?
- Yes. CBT has the strongest evidence base for treating panic disorder and anxiety. We learn to identify triggers and interrupt the anxiety spiral before it escalates into a full panic attack.
- Can I combine therapy with psychiatric medication?
- Yes, and often this is the optimal approach. Medication can reduce symptom severity quickly while therapy builds lasting coping skills. If you are taking medication, please mention it at the start — it does not affect our ability to work together.
